Pizza Sauce

Pizza sauce has traditionally been tomato based, blended with herbs and spices like sugar, salt, pepper, basil, and oregano.  As pizza lovers experiment with different flavor combinations, other sauces have become more popular.  Pesto sauce, made from pine nuts and lots of basil, is often used on Greek style pizzas. A classic choice is extra virgin olive oil, which allows the flavors of the other toppings to really shine.  White sauce is usually similar to alfredo sauce and uses cheese and garlic to put a twist on the traditional pizza sauce.  Even ranch and barbeque sauce can be used as pizza sauce, so use your imagination!
